How the rate works

The mid-market rate above is the midpoint of the live buy and sell price for Euro against the Indian Rupee — the rate you see on Google or Reuters. Money-transfer providers and banks apply a margin on top (typically 0.5–3%) plus a flat fee, so the amount actually delivered is a little lower. The calculator above lets you model both.

Sending money to India from Euro

A few things that decide how much actually reaches the recipient:

  • Compare the delivered amount, not the rate. A provider advertising "zero fees" often builds a wider margin into the rate. Put the same send amount into two or three services and compare what lands in India.
  • Bank transfers are usually the most expensive route. Dedicated remittance apps and services generally give a rate closer to mid-market.
  • Larger transfers get proportionally better rates — the flat fee matters less, and some providers tier the margin down.
  • Timing makes a small difference: rates move through the day with the dollar and the rupee. Big swings usually follow US data, RBI policy or oil.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best EUR to INR rate right now?

The mid-market rate is ₹106.2708 per EUR as of 27 Oct 2026 06:19 UTC. No provider gives you exactly the mid-market rate — compare the total amount delivered (after margin and fees) across two or three services before sending.

Is there tax on money sent to India?

Money received by a resident Indian from a close relative abroad is not taxed as income. For other transfers, gifts above ₹50,000 in a year from a non-relative can be taxable in the recipient’s hands. On the sending side, some countries (e.g. India’s own LRS) apply a tax-collected-at-source; check your local rules.

What moves the EUR/INR rate?

For rupee pairs, the main drivers are the US dollar’s global strength, crude oil prices (India is a big importer), foreign investment flows into Indian markets, the RBI’s interventions, and the interest-rate gap between the two countries.

Will the rupee get stronger or weaker?

No one can reliably forecast a currency. Over the long run the rupee has tended to weaken gradually against the dollar because India’s inflation runs higher than the US’s. Short-term moves depend on oil, foreign flows and global risk sentiment. This page shows the rate and its recent range; it is not a prediction.

Should I send money now or wait?

For a regular remittance, trying to time the rate rarely pays off — the day-to-day moves are usually small next to provider margins and fees. If you send large amounts, comparing providers and splitting a big transfer over a few weeks reduces the risk of sending everything on a bad day.
