The exchanges hold a symbolic one-hour Muhurat trading session on Diwali (Laxmi Puja), on Sunday, 8 November 2026. A special one-hour Muhurat trading session is held on Diwali (Laxmi Puja). The exchanges announce the exact timing a few days before.

How many trading holidays does NSE have in 2026? There are 15 full-day equity trading holidays in 2026, plus the one-hour Diwali Muhurat session. Festivals that fall on a Saturday or Sunday do not add an extra day off.
Are NSE and BSE holidays the same? Yes. NSE and BSE publish the same equity trading-holiday calendar. Clearing (settlement) holidays can differ slightly and are listed separately by the exchanges.
Can I trade on a holiday? No. On a full trading holiday all segments — equity, F&O and currency — are closed on both exchanges. MCX commodity trading follows its own, shorter holiday list.
