How the platinum rate in India is set
India’s platinum rate is set by the international price in US dollars, the USD/INR exchange rate, import duty and a uniform 3% GST. City-to-city differences are small and come from local jewellers’ association benchmarks, the regional retail premium, and making-charge conventions rather than tax. The India Bullion & Jewellers Association (IBJA) rate published from Mumbai is the benchmark most jewellers follow.
